PAR Technology and TempAlert team up with Town of Webb School District for Internet of Things (IoT) Program

New Hartford, N.Y. – September 12, 2017- PAR Technology Corporation (NYSE: PAR), a leading global provider of point of sale (POS) and workforce efficiency solutions to the restaurant and retail market industry today announced that they are partnering with the Town of Webb Union Free School District to expose the students to a growing technology known as the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Town of Webb Union Free School District is located in Old Forge, N.Y. Students in grades K-12 are participating in this program provided by both PAR Technology and TempAlert. TempAlert, a specialist in temperature monitoring, is one of PAR’s most recent partners and is aiding PAR to provide equipment and consultation to the school.

PAR currently partners with TempAlert for PAR’s SureCheck Food Safety Solution, a mobile client-based, automated solution that provides checklist management for Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety programs. The SureCheck solution is further strengthened by TempAlert IoT to go further in protecting brands, consumers, and the bottom-line.

The students at the Town of Webb UFSD will benefit greatly from this program and from learning about the emerging technology of IoT.

“The Internet of Things, or IoT as it’s commonly called, is the interconnection via the internet of computing devices embedded in everyday objects, enabling them to send and receive data. These devices continually collect and exchange data with other devices within a network so the data can be aggregated for further analysis, reporting, or predictive alarming.   If you look at a school environment, the ability to collect and analyze data is core to Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology and even Home Economics.  This partnership enables the students to use real-world data in their studies and, at the same time, utilize an emerging technology,” said Jim Nerschook, VP SureCheck, ParTech, Inc., and leader of this program.

The Town of Webb UFSD is the only school in the area with an IoT concentration, however PAR and TempAlert are exploring a similar program in the Boston area.
